Jordy & Abby
Gómez Athman
Jordy
Jordy A. Gómez grew up in a slum on the south side of San José. His inherent passion for dance and music since age 5 set the stage for the rest of his journey. As a teenager, he went on to discover how his personal expression in dance was Open Style; a unique blend of styles as he interprets the music.

At 16 years old, Jordy found his dance crew through his sister, called Style Elements Crew. Here, they were instilled with Christian values and it was a space where they could grow, being exposed to different styles: Break Dance, Dust Step, Popping, Locking, a swag Hip-Hop & Open Style, among others. Seeing his leader's work, who they nicknamed B-boy Isa Crack & B-boy Gama, two brothers who loved the talents God gave them. So through this, Jordy's inspiration became much stronger as he considered how he wanted to work for God and for the low-resourced slums around the world, those like the one he and his crew grew up in. His old crew no longer exists, but BOLDM does now, with the same, and even more, God-inspired foundations.

After 4 hard years of moving from place to place, alone, without a home or food, Jesus called him to go to YWAM (Youth With A Mission), where God embedded into Jordy his full truth. After 2 1/2 years there, God spoke personally to him, saying that He thought he was ready to be handed over the mission of Breath of Life. Saying it this way, these transitions sound so easy and fast, but really they were 7 years filled with many unexplainable and difficult things, with much to learn, before BOLDM started.

Jordy's passion & longing is for the youth to have a safe and worthy place, where we can share with them many values and teachings. A place where they can be free to express themselves and find access to a relationship with the Lord.

All of us can do incredible things to bring near God's kingdom and His love to the youth around the world who most need it, and they can then become that bridge of inspiration. A family. That is BOLDM.
Abby
Abby Athman grew up in small-town Minnesota, USA, always with the love to dance. She was first involved in High Kick and Jazz at Just for Kix as a child, and went on to do these styles with her competitive high-school team until graduation. At age 15, she eagerly joined Stroia Dance Studios to begin training in ballet, under the direction of Carlos Cornel Stroia, which became a pivotal moment in her development of technique and passion.

The Lord began to reveal to Abby her calling into missions work in the realm of the arts and dance. For a time she seemed inactive in dance training as a university student, God gave her dreams of literally choregraphing new content that made her heart wrestle with the question: "What do You have for me with dance, Lord?". Abby surrendered her talents to God, and soon after God began to redefine the "why" behind her dancing: From competitive dance to impress the people to an instrument to evangelize, worship, & share about Jesus with the world. After a short season serving alongside Jordy and leading dance workshops with the YWAM San José Dance Ministry, God confirmed their calling to begin BOLDM to reach the at-risk youth in Costa Rica.

Abby's primarily teaches jazz, lyrical, & ballet with BOLDM. She is certified in Formación Docente en Danza ("Dance Teacher Training") through Sumar Danza in Argentina. Her Bachelor's degrees are in Intercultural Studies & Spanish, with minors in Psychology & Bible from the University of Northwestern--St. Paul.

Her desire is for youth to know from their young age that they can be instruments themselves to share about Jesus with others--something she didn't learn until she was an adult. What a powerful way for young people to join the Great Commission using their God-given talents in the arts in the "now"!
